On Battle Jazz Galactica, le Président and Greg de Villanova duel over full-length jazz tracks on vinyl, with Parisian asides between blows. This set jumps from Duke Pearson Quintet’s neat Blue Note post-bop in “Hush!” to The Visitors’ Philadelphia-cut “The Visit”, via Johnny Hodges, Ray Charles and the free-jazz rhythm shocks of Sunny Murray. Hard bop, soul jazz and avant-garde jazz all get their turn.

1. Hush! - Duke Pearson Quintet.
2. The Visit - The Visitors.
3. Yearning - Johnny Hodges.
4. MIster C - Ray Charles.
5. Welcome to New York - Leon Thomas.
6. A Love Supreme - Luis Gasca.
7. Unity - Sunny Murray.
8. Mirage - Art Blakey.

Pourquoi ?
