Blocus.

Greg de Villanova and le Président serve up full-length jazz tracks with a few short French interludes between selections: Curtis Fuller’s “Roc And Troll”, Jackie McLean’s “Message from Trane”, Hank Mobley’s prison-born “Double Exposure”, and Thelonious Monk’s sly “Well You Needn’t”. Expect hard bop, jazz standards and a few odd corners of the music — from Roland Kirk’s multi-horn acrobatics to André Previn’s unlikely route from hotel-band contempt to jazz piano and film work.
